I'm off to the Kirkland offices of Sony Online Entertainment for creative meetings on The Matrix Online. We're arranging for a new way to do cinematics -- the short movies that are released periodically to move along the story. Rather than laboriously animating them within the game engine, then transferring them to compressible files, we're going to do flash animations.
It's a step down in production value, but necessary if we're to have cinematics at all. It took a huge number of manhours to do the cinematics the previous way. You can access cinematics (old style) here.
Meanwhile, check out this group shot I found of The Devil's Advocates, a faction working for the Merovingian. It blew me away to think of how much cooperation and adjustment it took to get this nicely composed shot. Click to enlarge.
