VidFest Presentation

This is a loosely chronological survey of my work from my teenage fanzine artwork to screenshots of The Matrix Online, for which I wrote story continuity over the first few years of its existence. SF illustration, movie storyboards, advertising art and plenty of Concrete and other comics work included. It was part of my talk with Mark Verheiden, then a Battlestar Galactica writer/producer, to Vidfest 2007 in Vancouver BC.

OMG... it was very well done the group shot of the DA members, I think Lilliane did a great job at getting us all together as different members took screen shots. It was an exciting day. It is also a great faction with terrific people. Thank you for the kudos. :)

(I'm second row, on the left second person with the Red hair and confused look). *big cheesy smile*

Wow! Thank you for your nice comments Mr. Chadwick! We really appreciate it! Yes, alot of organization went into that shot, and we're quite proud of it! We still can't believe you found it either!

Once again, thank you!

It's awesome to see someone like yourself appreciate the players of the Matrix Online. You've done a great job so far on your work for the game, and I'm excited to see whats to come.

Merry Christmas Mr. Chadwick!

I find this very interesting and fortunate that it works for The Matrix. The Animatrix proved that animation can be a good way to tell portions of the story. I hope that the Flash productions look very good, you can do some really sweet things in Flash. Hopefully this means the Cinematics won't be as short as they have been recently.

Thank you for writing for MxO, I know you like to have a ton of things going at once.

Romav

I'm too am hoping this means the cinematics will be longer. I'll be honest and say I'm not too keen on the idea of the cinmeatics no longer being done through the in game engine, but I understand it's not feasable to continue making them that way.

I look forward to them. Don't know if this has been asked/answered already, but will you be doing the art for them Paul?

Skyscream

Hi Paul

Just wanted to say that it's great to know you actually do hang out in the Matrix.

Cheers!

Sykin

Very intriguing, Mr. Chadwick, and great to see that you are active in the game's community.

Flash is still a mystery to me but I'm sure it will turn out excellent.

Coming back to this blog reminded me to check out more of your work.

me

is it me or does the people on the left and right side look to be photoshopped in. Some of them are obviously taken from a different perspective and graphics card and placed in the shot.

But still a good picture.

Feral Boy

Mr. Chadwick, will there ever be a comic adaptation of the continuing story from the Matrix Online? While the cinematics are nice and all, they don't do any justice to the complex storyline that you have developed thus far. Having the story collected in a comic book format would give new players a great place to catch up on things that have occurred since the game began. Perhaps it could even be an online comic, just like the original Matrix comics were. You could publish them one chapter behind what's going on in-game so that if you want the most current info you have to play the game. The comics, then, would be strictly for past events. You could even make mention of actual game players. I would give serious thought to this idea since there are very, very few players who are taking the time to try to document everything. If there was an official source like an online comic, the game would be SO MUCH MORE user friendly and accessible. Even players who have been there since beta would appreciate it. I know I would.

Liliane

incase sykin ever sees this, no one was photochopped in. You wouldn't believe how long it took for me to get all those chuckleheads in order. :-p

I miss the good ol' days. :(

<3 to Mr. Chadwick and my family, the DA.

Good preview. You made it clear you enjeoyd despite focusing on the negatives which stuck out at you. It's a nice refreshing change from the usual OMG THIS GAME IS AMAZING preview followed by a 6/10 review you usually find on most websites. Personally I'm really psyched and I've heard that the AI is astounding. I will say I don't get why people compare this game to borderlands. Firstly this game isn't truly open world like borderlands, secondly it's not cel-shaded, thirdly borderlands was an RPG with stat trees and a massive randomized loot system, fourthly borderlands was NOT post-apocalyptic. It was set on a lawless frontier planet where humanity struggles to survive due to the harsh and unfamiliar ecosystem coupled with local lawlessness and brutal competing imperial off-world entities. Technically borderlands' setting has more in common with red dead than rage.

Hi Guys, sorry for my english ib4m very bad with it I know ahoentr way to slow down an Animation in Cinema 4D, just using the Time Track , you can find it under right click with the mouse on any objects in the timeline menu and then clicking on add special track .Normally i create a new null-Object and drag it on the timeline. Then with the right click i select under special track Time Track . Finally i click on the time under the Null-Object in the timeline menu and i drag it in the atribute folder under time track on one of my animated Object. In this way i can easily slow down or speed up different objects using only one track.I hope i was clear!!!

Amazing man! .but i have another kind of qtesuion, if i want to make this HD view, with this slow motion thing like a glass broken, or something that looks cool in slow way, offcourse its take longer to render and the final video will be like 4552761 megabytes, and i wont be able to upload it to anywhere or even keep it in my computer cause is to big and last 10 secs for example. What format, and what codec its better, or how is the better way to save this file and have a nice HD slow motion video with few megabytes :DSorry about my english .im from CHILE!!!Thanks again nick!!

Hi Simone, Thanks for your helpful sutseggion it sounds great, and I'm trying to figure out what you're describing, but can't yet. Could you perhaps try to explain it a little more? I'm sorry even to ask, but I'm having real trouble with this and your method sounds so great!Especially, I don't understand this part:Finally i click on the “time” under the Null-Object in the timeline menu and i drag it in the atribute folder under “time track” on one of my animated Object.Really appreciate any response. Thanks!K

GoW is the ultimate hack n Slash game. After plinyag it I doubt you'll play a better one.I played a little Heavy Rain, damn, that game is so awesome! Makes me shiver everytime. Also, on a barely related subject, I love real rain. Makes me feel nostalgic.
