VidFest Presentation
- This is a loosely chronological survey of my work from my teenage fanzine artwork to screenshots of The Matrix Online, for which I wrote story continuity over the first few years of its existence. SF illustration, movie storyboards, advertising art and plenty of Concrete and other comics work included. It was part of my talk with Mark Verheiden, then a Battlestar Galactica writer/producer, to Vidfest 2007 in Vancouver BC.

Mark Verheiden
Mark was my roommate in the eighties when he moved to Los Angeles to break into movies.
I saw his early years of struggle, chasing writing gigs (Terror Squad dates from this era, which illustrates Mark didn't start at the top) while working at the LA Times classified department, calling up people to tell them their credit cards that they used to pay for ads had been refused for exceeding their credit limit. Fun job.
Now, with movies (Time Cop, The Mask) and TV shows (Time Cop, The Strip, Smallville) under his belt, he's second-in-command on the critically lauded Battlestar Galactica, and occasional comics writer (like me, he started out with Dark Horse Comics at its inception).
This podcast captures Mark perfectly. The gentle, intelligent voice, thousands of facts and names on the tip of his tongue, talking frankly about the movie business, comics, and the craft of writing.
It's a pleasurable hour with a personable, brilliant fellow who's immersed in the popular culture sea in which we swim.

Back From Colorado...
