PaulChadwick.net goes live today, so this blog's traffic ought to increase.
With that new light on my blinking paleness, my usual months-between-posts pace will quicken. Or it should.
You can click here for my recounting of medical woes (which really needs violin accompaniment), but as for my worklife, here's a sampling.
-I'm nearing completion of my long-gestating DC series with Harlan Ellison. That means they may soon safely schedule it for publication. A taste of its pulpy SF goodness:
-Three new Concrete 8-pagers are drawn, awaiting lettering and coloring. A splash panel which shows how pathetically loose my pencils are:
-A graphic novel (non-Concrete) based on a story treatement by Mike Richardson. A rather watery taste:
-A Concrete prose novel, written in fits, with a long-evolving cover (current state below) painting:
-Another Concrete miniseries, for which I'm also painting wraparound covers:
-and God help me, I've started a kid's series. A taste:
So this period has been marked by a focus like a laser-beam, bouncing around a hall of mirrors. But damn, if I get any of these things done, look out!
Hello Paul,
nice to hear and see so many new things from you. Looking forward to every single one of them. All the best to your wife and yourself, especially health. Best regards,
Guido from Dresden, Germany

Hey, Paul,
Nice to hear things are improving. I'm an avid follower of your work, especially Concrete.
I got a lovely commission from you at SDCC a couple years ago- Concrete cradling his child. We chatted (well, more accurately, I gushed) about Concrete and work in general.
I presented a paper on Concrete: The Human Dilemma at the national Popular Culture Association conference in St. Louis back in April. At that time, I discussed the idea of a book on concrete with representatives of University of Mississippi Press, who seemed quite interested. Feel free to contact me about this project. I will try to update you as it evolves!

Whew! I read the health notes...you guys have been through hell. I'm relieved the eye recovered. But do you, like, have to close it when you draw?
Yet you still manage to generate exciting projects. My hat's off to you; may you have a considerably less eventful year to come.

So glad to hear that there is more Concrete and Paul Chadwick work on the way. I was just reading a couple of old trade paperbacks. I almost forgot how wonderful those old stories were.

if you are ever in the mood to go exploring on your own or with friends, I recommend biking through the city. You see a lot more from your bike than you would from an automobile. One of my favorite bike trips is taking the pandora jewellry . bike lane downtown through the city, then over the Detroit Superior Bridge. You can bike down Detroit Rd. all the way until Lincoln Park, which is part of the Cleveland Metroparks and is a beautiful oasis of green in the city.
