I'm a fan of paperback cover paintings -- which seem to be another victim of Photoshop. But their rich history is all over the web.
This wonderfully eerie William Teason piece, for Shirley Jackson's novel of agoraphobia, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, seems to me like it might've influenced young Michael Whelan.
A very haunting image. Thanks for sharing.

Today I went looking for information on "W. Teason" and found almost nothing online. Which is a shame, as he was obviously a prolific cover artist in the '60s and '70s. I think this cover of "Castle" is one of his best.

You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change . they push the human race pandora charms bracelets, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, because the ecco New Arrivals who are enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
